soba

soba

The lighting on his is better )

It was so hot today we just couldn't eat anything hot.
I normally like to use my Nokorimono desu ga bento box for this because it's not microwave safe and this meal doesn't need microwave, but I remembered I never finish the meal because it's too big. So I thought I'd give my soup bento bowl another day in the spotlight (even though it's microwave safe) ^_^

in celebration

soba and grapes for me

for him )

In celebration of our having signed a lease today. ^_^

I used cilantro instead of basil cause the basil at the store didn't look very good and I've recently acquired a liking for cilantro.

ochazuke attempt

Ochazuke, aka rice with tea

Taken from [info]mmmbento's post, who took it from I was just really very hungry, here we have my first attempt at ochazuke. According to the aforementioned sites, it's just rice with tea and "other stuff." I had no idea what to put in it, so I sort of improvised:

Smoked salmon, green onions, toasted sesame seeds, strips of nori, and crispy rice (seen by itself to the right) on top of steamed rice. I also added (they're in the front by accident) sliced greek pepperoncini and roe. I don't know how those will taste with the rest of the flavors, but we'll see how it goes. Crispy rice

No cooking again today; I've been wanting to try this since [info]mmmbento posted it and I still have some siopao, which for some reason my brother doesn't like to eat. Also: I refrained from packing more cake, though tomorrow I'm sure I'll wish I had.

Soba and chocolate cake

This is leftover smoked salmon soba and chocolate cake. I'll definitely need some chocolate after my midterm tomorrow x_x

Also: I didn't cook dinner so my brother went out to eat. Now I feel guilty.

like 3xS but no apples

Leftover soba and strawberries

More soba and strawberries sitting in pastry cups filled with the peanutty chocolate spread and topped with chocolate sauce. Everything except the pastries are leftovers from my Wednesday bento, so that's where the recipes are.

I wanted to do this since I haven't made a bento for lunch in a while. Boo on that.

3xS and some fruits

Smoked salmon soba, strawberries and fuji apple slices. I forgot to include the salad dressing bottle filled with balsamic vinegar in the picture. In the carrot spreaders is peanutty chocolate spread, recipe below.

*edit*
Not pictured:
I made a bento for him (looks just like mine, but without the carrots) and put the marble cake he brought home for me in my penguin mini bento.

For the peanut spread, I did not use the plain yogurt because I could not find plain soy yogurt and I can't eat regular yogurt. It still tastes good; I imagine it's just not the same consistency as the recipe.
