chicken and rice with broccoli

chicken

I decided I hadn't made this in a while, so I winged it again, served with rice and broccoli that my future husband (FH) made. Really simple, but delicious.

chicken adobo and rice

My mom made this for dinner so I took some home. She and my dad have moved back to town. Yay! ^_^

The water bottle I normally use has started to leak, so I ended up buying a Sigg bottle. I don't really like the mouth piece, though. I usually like wide mouth water bottles and this one just has one of those sports spigot things. Maybe I'll get used to it. The bottle was expensive, so I'm gonna keep using it for a while before I decide I don't like it. new sigg bottle

Lamb and fried rice. I didn't much like this dish, but I could quite possibly just not like lamb.

Oriental Spareribs )

Alterations:
- Added soy sauce and worchestershire sauce
- Decreased cornstarch and sweet & sour sauce
- Used 2.30 lbs more meat

Notes:
In retrospect, I should have increased the cornstarch, but this recipe wasn't what I was originally following. I was using the one they had in their manual, which I couldn't find when I set to make this so I looked it up online. The point is, the requirements were all different for that recipe, but I ended up winging it anyway. They turned out great, though I forgot to add hot sauce.

I had them on high for about 30 minutes in the morning, straight out of the fridge. Then I turned it down to low and left around 7:05am. When I came home at 4:30pm, I unclamped the lid and let it sit on low until about 5:30pm.

sushi and jalapeño cheese bread

Strawberries , bananas, jalapeño cheese bread and avocado in the sushi are from the farmer's market. I also used soy wraps by Yamamotoyama instead of seaweed because I didn't have any seaweed. The soy wraps didn't taste like anything, so if you don't like seaweed, they would be good for you to use. The website doesn't have pictures of the product, unfortunately, but I think I got mine at Safeway.

My bf's dad gave us some marinated ribs, so all we had to do was throw them in the oven. Yum!

something different

teriyaki lunch for him

For once, my bf and I had something different. This is the teriyaki chicken I cooked for dinner tonight. My sister came over to see the new place and have dinner, which we do every Tuesday.

something thai

I wanted to eat these leftovers before they went bad. I forgot what the dish is called, but it's from a Thai place that my friend took us to when we went to visit him and the new wife. ^_^

mr bento

My first Mr B at the new place. Lighting sucks, obviously. Chicken katsu and rice, cereal, and cinnamon bread.

I can't wait to settle in so I can start posting food to be proud of again.

the usual

katsu

Welp, I didn't want to eat out for the millionth time, so I decided to surprise my bf and have dinner ready when he came home. Of course, we somehow always end up surprising each other at the same time: he came home early from work and surprised me. Anyway, nothing fancy for dinner -- just katsu -- and it's not as pretty as usual, but it was just as good. Plus, we ate with my sister and brother-in-law (I'm getting used to saying that) and that's always nice. I know I keep saying this, but once I move out, I'll be cooking a lot more. I can't wait! ^_^

*edit* While cooking, a piece of chicken slipped as I was sliding it into the pan and hot oil splattered all over the place. I didn't realize the oil got all over me until I took my apron off. The oil seems to have cause the black from the lettering to bleed, but I'm glad I was wearing it -- otherwise the oil would have burned me through my shirt.

katsu madness

Katsu

I bought new sauce containers at the dollar store; they are supposed to be molds for flan, but I figured they would make bento accessories.
