crochet mesh bag

crocheted mesh bag

I got this pattern from the label of some yarn I bought. It turned out considerably smaller than it was supposed to because I used a 4.25mm hook instead of a 4.5mm hook. I could not find a 4.5mm hook at Jo-Ann Fabrics and wanted to start right away, so I didn't bother looking elsewhere. In retrospect, I should have gone a size up, but all I had was 5.00mm and I was afraid that would be too big. Well, now I know.

I took it to the grocery store for the first time today and used it for produce. It did pretty well, though it was a bit small.

first crochet wearable

poncho

My mother seemed really excited when I told her I was trying to make a poncho for a friend of mine (which I didn't finish), and she was in town this weekend so I made this for her from this pattern. Actually, I haven't finished any crochet project since the amigurumi type banana, so I'm proud of myself for plowing through this one so quickly. It didn't turn out quite like it should have since the neck opening is too big, but I still finished it and I'm pleased with how it looks. Also, the neckline was something that I could have fixed pretty easily, but my mom insisted that it was fine, and she could fix it if she changed her mind.

kiss my banana

crochet banana

It comes apart )

I crocheted this banana last night from a pattern purchased from catcozy on Etsy. It isn't technically amigurumi, according to the Wikipedia article, but it is the only yarn project I've ever completed. I'm rather proud of myself for it, not only because it turned out pretty well for my very first time, but also because I kept at it even when I wanted to quit. Yay perseverance!
