cheesecake with raspberry and chocolate sauce

cheesecake

Homemade Cheesecake with Raspberry and Chocolate Sauce )

Notes:
For the raspberry sauce, I used my hand blender to mush up the fruit, then I used a tea infuser to take out all the seeds. The process took a while since the infuser I used was fine and the raspberry juice is chunky, but it was totally worth it. The resulting raspberry sauce was smooth and delicious.

Cocoa Syrup )

Notes:
I couldn't find anything actually labeled Dutch-processed, so I just used what I had, which was unsweetened cocoa.

tea flower and cake

tea flower

My bf bought these tea flowers with the cup and saucer set for me some time ago and I never got around to taking pictures. It's delicious tea from Adagio, and if you use that link, you'll get 5% off your purchase. I don't know how long the promotion is going though.

Since this is the third time within two weeks that I have made this cake, I decided to just post a pic of the Alton Brown double boiler method for melting the chocolate and butter. It's basically a glass mixing bowl over a sauce pan of hot water. Mr. Brown used a stainless steel mixing bowl, but I gave mine to my sister, so I just used what I have. The method works well and saves money and space that an actual double boiler would have taken. double boiler a la Alton Brown

tacos + bonus

Click here for my taco stuffing pic.
cake and lactose free ice cream
Plus cake and ice cream, because I had a rough day

The following conversation I had with my bf and our friend cheered me up considerably.

me: Are you guys gonna have any more tacos? I can open the other box of shells.
RV: I don't think I'm gonna have another one...
bf: Oh, and there's dessert!
RV: Dessert? What dessert?
me: Cake
bf: You remember that cake I brought in [to work] that was almost like a brownie?
RV: You mean the [info]anchovylove-is-amazing cake?

^_^

This was the last of my taco seasoning and I couldn't make more because I'm out of chili powder. I posted the cake recipe a couple days ago.

molten chocolate cake

molten chocolate cake

I woke up one day with a big craving for this, but I couldn't find the pan for it at any of the stores around here. So I ordered it online and waited.

like 3xS but no apples

Leftover soba and strawberries

More soba and strawberries sitting in pastry cups filled with the peanutty chocolate spread and topped with chocolate sauce. Everything except the pastries are leftovers from my Wednesday bento, so that's where the recipes are.

I wanted to do this since I haven't made a bento for lunch in a while. Boo on that.

3xS and some fruits

Smoked salmon soba, strawberries and fuji apple slices. I forgot to include the salad dressing bottle filled with balsamic vinegar in the picture. In the carrot spreaders is peanutty chocolate spread, recipe below.

*edit*
Not pictured:
I made a bento for him (looks just like mine, but without the carrots) and put the marble cake he brought home for me in my penguin mini bento.

For the peanut spread, I did not use the plain yogurt because I could not find plain soy yogurt and I can't eat regular yogurt. It still tastes good; I imagine it's just not the same consistency as the recipe.
