premade frozen pork buns

premade pork buns

Today was my first day riding my bike to work. I was starving the whole day and all I had were these premade frozen pork buns that turned out to be pretty gross. I ended up having to buy something. Booo.

buffalo chicken tenders and fries

chicken tenders and fries

These buffalo chicken tenders are baked, not fried, and though they are not golden brown, they certainly were good. I even added more cayenne pepper, but that didn't even do the trick. Anyway, I ended up making katsu sauce along with the cilantro dip, so that made it spicy enough.

The fries were frozen from Whole Foods. They had some kind of seasoning on them, but I don't remember what it was. Garlic and rosemary? Something like that.

a cooking storm

dessert

Had some friends over tonight and felt like baking. I've never been very good at frosting until I saw the technique on Good Eats. Then again, cupcakes have a much smaller surface area than a full-sized cake. Yum!

This is just the beginning of this weekend ^_^

home made chili

chili pie

I got myself a slow cooker. Chili pie is the first of my creations to be borne of this wonderful machine.

Click here for a pic of the toppings.

In retrospect, I should have cooked the beans before adding them to the pot. I thought they would be fine, but they were still a little hard. So I have the slower cooker on low right now, in hopes that the beans will soften.

shrimp and crab ravioli

shrimp and crab ravioli

These are premade from Costco. My bf boiled them up and made a butter and lemon sauce with garlic and parsley. It was really good, but unfortunately didn't agree with my stomach >_<

TJ's kung pao with chicken

TJ's Kung Pao with Chicken

This is kung pao noodles with chicken from Trader Joe's. I added the chicken, which is Foster Farm's precooked. I think the noodles need the sauce to cook, and as you can see, all my sauce was on the chicken. So the noodles were not fully cooked and the chicken plus the kung pao sauce made everything too salty for me to eat. If I try this again, it will be with freshly cooked chicken.

something thai

something thai

My bf cooked dinner tonight. Something out of a Trader Joe's. It was pretty good, but only had two servings in it. I didn't have much of an appetite, so I had enough left for lunch.
